About
A cloudy tank and a filter two sizes too small
The Ocean Life is a sole proprietorship based in Hyderabad, Telangana, operating online as Mavora Haven (mavorahaven.shop).
How this started
A 120-litre tank in Hyderabad that would not clear. Three water changes a week, a bottle of clarifier that worked for two days, and a filter bought because the box said it handled the volume. It did — at zero head height, with clean media, in a laboratory.
Replacing it with a canister rated well above the tank fixed the problem in four days and it has not recurred since. The filter had not been faulty. It had been sold on a number that meant nothing in a real tank.
A filter rated for your tank on the box is usually a filter one size too small in your room.
Our commitment
Flow rate at head height
We quote GPH as it behaves with hoses and lift, not the free-flow figure printed on the carton.
Tank range we would actually use
Every listing gives the volume we would run it on, which is deliberately more conservative than the manufacturer’s.
Honest media intervals
Most cartridges are sold to be replaced far more often than they need to be. We say when replacing media too often is what is keeping your tank cloudy.
Our story
We keep the range narrow and biased towards over-capacity, because in eight years of keeping tanks we have never once regretted a filter that was too strong and have regretted several that were adequate on paper.
The advice that costs us money is on every page: do not replace all your media at once, do not rinse it in tap water, and if your tank is cloudy in week three the problem is cycling, not equipment.
Online only
There is no showroom and no walk-in counter. Mavora Haven trades entirely online and ships across India from Hyderabad, Telangana, which keeps overheads off the price of the goods.
